Located off the east coast of the United States, this British overseas territory (the oldest and most populous of them still existing) of 20.6 square miles (when you add up all 138 islands), it is a popular tourist destination.

Personally, I don’t quite like the word “salvage”.

Interestingly enough, while it is a British overseas territory, they employ the 9-1-1 phone number for emergencies. It might have to do with the fact that it is significantly close to the U.S. mainland than they are to the U.K.
