Two semitrailer trucks — one carrying millions of bees — and two cars collided on Interstate 35 in Lakeville, Minnesota, late Monday morning, a crash that closed the northbound lanes along a 5-mile stretch of the interstate between County Road 2 and County Road 70 for several hours.

The drivers of the two vehicles did not survive, despite one being airlifted to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale. Firefighters were told to respond in full PPE with face protection because of the bees, and made attempts to quell the bees by using water.
